The Time is Now: Centering Survivors in our Work to End Domestic Violence

Join the Seattle Human Services Department’s Mayor's Office on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault; the Coalition Ending Gender Based Violence; King County’s Veterans, Seniors, Human Services Levy (VSHSL);and the Seattle Women's Commission, for a gathering to bring community together, raise awareness, and celebrate those leading the fight to provide healing, safety and support for survivors.

While Seattle and King County lead the way in Domestic Violence (DV) response and overall violent crime has declined, DV continues to rise locally. Funding cuts, gender inequalities, financial abuse, and regressive cultural shifts all contribute to increasing violence. The time is now to put survivors first and strengthen our efforts to end DV.

Domestic Violence Awareness Month is a national annual campaign held each October to unite organizations and individuals in uplifting survivors’ voices and experiences. This year’s convening falls on Purple Thursday. Attendees are encouraged to wear purple clothing or accessories to show their support for survivors.
