JOIN US FOR A 2-DAY TRAUMA INTENSIVE TRAINING (11 CEUS!)
Who: For advocates and behavioral health providers working with survivors of gender-based violence
June 13 10-4 - Virtual Learning Day
Morning session: Trauma-informed Care for Survivors
In part one, we will expand upon our definition of trauma and examine the core principles and components of trauma-informed care, highlighting the parts that are often left out of the conversation. We will do a deep dive into the various ways gender-based violence and other forms of trauma-inducing experiences impact our bodies and brains in order to better identify, understand, and support the survival-based behaviors and reactions we may within our programs.
Afternoon session: Trauma Informed Care for Service Providers
After our lunch break, we will explore some of the challenging impacts this type of work may have on us as providers. We will examine the various mechanisms, contributing factors, and symptoms behind compassion fatigue, secondary trauma, burnout, and vicarious trauma; develop methods for recognizing and mitigating dysregulation, countertransference, and empathic strain; and build our theoretical understanding behind the holistic practices we will be experiencing on day two.
June 14 9:30-4:30 – In-person Experiential Learning Day @ Tukwila Community Center – Morning refreshments and full lunch provided.
Participants will spend the day cultivating evidence- and practice-based techniques for nurturing the nervous system and fostering coregulation. They will rotate through various experiential sessions such as integrated movement practice, sound work, process painting, creative writing countertransference assessments, sensory supports, and various forms of bilateral stimulation. Participants will walk away with a menu of everyday activities that can easily be brought into their personal and professional practice. Participants will also receive a gift basket filled with specially curated items to support them in this work.
On day two, participants are encouraged to dress for engaging in art and light movement, and bring their own yoga mat if they have one.
