WHY: Understanding gender is critical to understanding power and how we shift paradigms away from violence and towards justice, while also preventing the violence we see day to day... the idea that there's a natural order in which men are always on top, has been central to the normalization of DV, SA, Trafficking and other forms of Gender-Based violence... it's beyond time for a change!
WHAT: Once a month we'll gather to learn about how we can plug in to work that addresses some of the root causes of gender based violence in our communities. We'll talk about what it is that we want to build and what are some of the things that have caused us harm...
We specifically focus on two things, root cause analysis and more options for survivors. Our work stretches between the urgency of what we deal with in the day to day, and the long work of shifting paradigms... but we keep it fun, get a little heavy, and care for each other through and through.
"We never know how our small activities will affect other through the invisible fabric of our connectedness. In this exquisitely connected world, it's never a question of 'critical mass.' It's always about critical connections." - Grace Lee Boggs
